This family of Prickly Lamps made from 279,000 handed toothpicks, sports an ornate protective skin, as a way of fending off predators during the Colonial period in Australian history.
Broached Commissions asked Lucy to create a permanent artwork that was a response to the often horrendous and exploitative living conditions under which convict women livedin the Colonial Period. Daddy, Mummy, Brother and now Sister were built by hand.
